Haibun are haiku that pair prose and poetry, often autobiographical narratives of memorable moments or scenes of awareness.

A Google Calendar filled with doctors appointments and broken Zoom links. Based upon products viewed, Amazon recommends an electronic quesadilla maker and zebra-print “Duck” tape. The “Continue Watching” queue is empty, but the next proposed category is “Foreign Black-and-White Slapstick Films.” Four unrecorded voicemails. Three text messages that prescription “NPC” is ready for pick-up. The weekly Arbor Day mailing suggests a 5-year subscription paid before the previous April. Two pop-ups claim: 1) the website has PUPs; 2) the neighbor’s printer ink is running low (courtesy of the doorcam’s shared Wifi). GF text: Broken Heart EmojiHand Waving Goodbye emoji . Alexa volunteers her assistance in re-setting to default.

Beneath data fronds
Wide as savings and shadow:
         No one there at all.
