Jacques Derrida is a founding voice. Since there is no knowledge outside of language (see semiotics), no reality is reachable through perception or language. Language refers to nothing and is connected only to itself. Writing is the best example of this, these randomly-ordered scratches on paper. Since “knowledge” is made of language, it is an elaborate self-deception.
