The Awdl Gywydd (owdl gów-wid) is an old Welsh form, where the 7-syllable-line quatrains lean on harmony of sound even over sensibility. The rhyme scheme is A (A)B C (C)B where the ( ) words are internal: here, “now/scowl” and “scene/unclean.”
