Haiga are haiku that pair art and poetry, often from the same brush. These are more ekphrastic, based on the popular art of Avery Palmer.

Avery Palmer's painting called "Traveler," where an egg shell with seven human feet around its circumference cracks open to show a human eye.

Palmer: “Traveler”

my weary eyes,
hatched upon this path,
          seek focus

Palmer: “Traveler”

Do not ask me
        where I walk now:
Old Ways compel me

Palmer: “Traveler”

On dry autumn grasses
in twilight years,
Footsteps.
